Deloitte: FinTech market in CEE valued at 2.2 billion EUR


The estimated value of the FinTech market across Central and Eastern Europe is 2.2 billion EUR, according to the recent Deloitte report "FinTech in CEE". One of the biggest investors in the region on this market is MCI Capital, engaged in such companies as: iZettle, Dotpay / eCard and Azimo.

According to the Deloitte report thegreatest share of FinTech solutions in all nine CEE countries (Poland, CzechRepublic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, Romania and Bulgaria)are aimed at the banking sector, with insurance and asset management still moreconservative in terms of innovations.

The hottest topic in terms of emergingtechnologies are payments, due to “the launch of numerous breakthroughsolutions, particularly those relating to various payment methods such ascontactless and mobile payments, host card emulation and cryptocurrency”. Oneof the most advanced countries in this area is Poland with such solutions asBLIK – common, national m-payment service.

One of the biggest investors in Poland andacross CEE in terms of FinTech market is MCI Capital that implements earlystage, growth stage and expansion/buy-out stage investments, with the use ofPE/VC funds. FinTech companies in MCI’s portfolio include: iZettle(mobile payment services provider), Dotpay / eCard (online payments provider)or Azimo (online digital money transfer service).
